Are Cats Considered Animal Removal?

admin

Residents in Upper Leacock are having problems with stray cats and litters of kittens and they want animal control to get rid of them. This would be enforced by the East Lampeter Township police and would address issues of the noisy animals and cleaning up after them as well. The SPCA charges $45 to remove a stray cat, however, has no charge to remove stray dogs. Upper Leacock isn’t alone, most towns do not do free cat removal. According to this article, Township Manager, Michael Morris, says there is no way to tell the actual number of strays and therefore, they cannot determine the cost of the procedures. Three changes would be included if this were considered for approval at the board meeting. One, it would be changed to “seizure of animals” since it no longer is just dogs. Two, someone specific, most likely from animal control, would be assigned to do this removal. To see what the third change would be read the article online.
